'A Good Girl's Guide To Murder', written by Holly Jackson and published in 2019, is YA mystery thriller that will keep you hooked from the first sentence... "Pip knew where they live". This book follows Pippa 'Pip' Fitz-Amobi, a high school student, as she works to re-investigate a 5 year old CLOSED murder case for her senior year project. She seeks to uncover the truth about the deaths that shocked the small English town of Little Kilton with the help of Ravi Singh (the younger brother of the believed killer) and in doing so, she might just reveal something know one was meant to know.

This book was AMAZING, in my opinion. Holly Jackson is such a talented writer and it's no wonder this book put her on the best seller lists, has 3 books in a series and has been made into a TV show. Holly Jackson's use of character foiling (fancy literary technique, means the contrast between the characters personality) has further enhanced not just the relationship between Pip and Ravi, but also the mystery itself. Pip's focused, goal-orientated determination is a key part of her personality but Ravi's more chilled character and reliance on humour to bury the loss of his brother create a perfect dynamic . They bicker like siblings, but are always there for each other. They're friendship is the perfect buffer between the suspense, descriptive puzzle solving and relatable life stories (minus the murder). Holly Jackson wrote the book so that every chapter leaves you needing to know more, until hours have gone by and you finally look up at the clock. You'll definitely want to stock up on red string, pins and maybe invest in a pin-up board to solve this one.
